Uncivilized, Pathetic, Impatience UM's UNdergrads..

I woke up 6am in the morning just to help my gf to take her graduation's robe. Reach the place at around 7.15am. Did you know what did I found out? There are more than 700 people (guessing only) waiting in-line already. The counter only opens at 9am but there are already soooooo many people waiting. The most shocking news that I heard is that there are even people who came to queue up since last night!!!!! Super 'XIAO'... Just like someone decided to sell 1000 sets of plasma tv worth RM30k for RM10.

The reason? All the girls want to get the 'S' size. UM should consider buying more "S" size robes.

Ahh.. Here comes the worst part. UM staff decided to open the counter a bit earlier and when the line starts moving, some smarty pants decided to run and cut the line. Consequently, everyone starts cutting line and forming 10 lines (or more) instead of ONE!!!! So, I have to endeavored the pushing and squeezing for at least 2 hours before I got my number. Want to know what number did I get?

1185. I think there's another thousand people behind me too... Craziness..

I felt sorry for those who came to line up at 4/5/6/7am as other people who came later than them were actually WAY AHEAD IN FRONT OF THEM. PATHETIC!!! Shame on you!!!

P.s. I FOUND PANTIES ON THE ROAD WHILE IN THE MIDST OF SQUEEZING AND PUSHING... hmm... something must had happen the night before...

Another Weekend..

Ahh.... Another weekend has just pass by.. And, I had done nothing useful for the entire weekend. Used 50% or more of my time to sleep and eat.. Another 49% of my time to sit in front of my precious laptop. LAst but not least, 1% of my time to read 2 pages of CFD book. Hahaha.... I'm so in big trouble.

Sigh....

For those friends out there who are going to graduate this year, CONGRATS!!! I talked to Lai Jeng about organizing a reunion before you guys starts working. Eh.. Maybe you guys are already working. Hahaha... Anyhow, take care!!!

Ahh.. Have to go to sleep de.. Have to wake up as early 5.30am tomorrow just to get a small size robe for my gf graduation. Why can't UM buy more smaller size robes?? Why??

Signing off.. Chau!!

Fetching e-mails from Hotmail, Gmail and PerdanaMail to your Thunderbird

Sorry for my late post. Basically, the settings for hotmail is the same with the setting for Yahoo!Mail. You just have to install another extension for your hotmail from here.

When you choose to create a new account, there's an option for GMail users. Select that and follow the instructions given. You should have no problems with that.

For PerdanaMail, the setting given by UMCTES is incorrect. However, you can only fetch email from PerdanaMail. I'm still figuring out the setting for sending out emails by using PerdanaMail.

1. Next, go to Tools>>Account Setting
2. Select Add Account
3. Choose the option "Web Mail"

4. Fill in your name and your e-mail address (wilander@perdana.um.edu.my) as shown below.

5. Next, fill-up the username section with your perdanamail address. (e.g. wilander@perdana.um.edy.my)

6. You have successfully created your account. Next, scroll down and look for Outgoing Server (SMTP).

7. Select Add and fill-in the blank with the same configuration as shown below.

8. Select your Perdana Mail Account and change your Outgoing Server to "PerdanaMail - smtp1.um.edu.my"

9. Next, select server settings and fill "ummail.um.edu.my" for the server name.

Receiving All emails by using ThunderBird!!

What's a Thunderbird?
It's an e-mail client developed my Mozilla. Something just like Microsoft Outlook. But, what's the difference? Well, you can't setup to use Yahoo!Mail and Hotmail in Microsoft Outlook. You can do that in Thunderbird.

Here's what you should do.

1. Download Thunderbird here.
2. Install it.

Yahoo!Mail Configuration
  1. Download WebMail 1.3.2 here.
  2. Download Yahoo 1.3.4 from the same page. By the way, if you are using Firefox, please right click the download link and "Save it as". If not, it will install as an extension for Firefox.
  3. Open Thunderbird. Go to Tools>>Add-On
  4. Click Install and browse for both of the files that you had just downloaded. Please bear in mind that you MUST install WebMail first before anything else.
  5. Next, go to Tools>>Account Setting
  6. Select Add Account and click Next

7. Fill in your name and your e-mail address as shown below.

8. Next, fill-up the username section with your yahoo mail address. (e.g. wilander2001@yahoo.com)

9. You have successfully created your account. Next, scroll down and look for Outgoing Server (SMTP).

10. Select Add and fill-in the blank with the same configuration as shown below.

11. Select your Yahoo Mail and change your Outgoing Server to yahoo mail-serverhost as described below.

I'll continue on Hotmail, Gmail and even PerdanaMail configuration on my next post. Why? I'm too lazy to write some more. It's 3.35pm and the weather is very suitable for a nice and good nap.... Hahhaha..

Day 7: I missed my flight !!!

Yeah.. I missed my flight back to KL. I was given the wrong direction by the railway officers !!! Argghhh.... I reached the check-in counter 20 minutes before the flight but all the gates have been closed and I cant board the plane. How? Did I pay RM3k for the next flight?

Of course not!!! I went to the MAS office and they gave me another ticket back for FREE.. Hahahaha... I love Malaysia Airlines!!!

The happy moments didn't last for long. Just an hour before my flight, I was so reluctant to leave my gf there. I felt so sad... It's hard to say goodbye to her... but, I had to....

I love you gf.. I'll wait for you till you come back again to my arms !!!! Stop looking at handsome ang moh... Muaks.. Love you.

Day 6: Blue Mountain

Blue Mountain is about 2 hours journey by train from the Central station. What's so special about Blue Mountain? Is the mountain blue in colour? Lol....

Behold.. The beauty of our mother earth..

There are 30 stops available in Blue Mountain which had a breathtaking scenic view in different angles. However, since we only have half a day to spend in Blue Mountain, we took the cableway, railway and skyway package instead of hiking across the valley.

The view from the cableway.

Up next.. The most steepest railway!!! Yeah... Both of us ride on the steepest railway in the world. Imagine.. 52 degree of inclination... Luckily, it's not a roller coaster. I'll died of heart attack. Imagine riding a rail train without being able to see the end !!!!

Day 5: Whales and Dolphins

Yup.. We went to whale watching today. You can get a 4 hours of whale watching for AU$68. We saw 3 hatchback whales AND dolphins!!! Haha.. The dolphins were swimming together with our boat. So lucky... However, there's a price to pay. I almost vomit back there cuz the ship was going up and down. And until now (6 hours after getting off the boat), I'm still feeling dizzy. And, it was the coldest day in my life. The temperature is ok but the wind is blowing so hard and there's sea water splashing on my jeans, I can feel the cold straight to my bone!!!

The boat that I'm taking....

Dolphins.. How fortunate am I...

After watching the whales, we went to Chinatown and my gf manage to get something for my sis. Cute ler?? Oii sis.... you should thank her !!!a

Day 4: Darling Harbour and Sydney's City Life

My gf and I reached the Town Hall station at 1.30pm. Another half day gone... Anyhow, walking half a day is more than enough. Can you imagine walking none stop for 5-6 hours? That's what I've been doing for the past few days. Imagine how many hours did I have to walk if we depart to the town in the morning?

The first thing that I saw when I came out of the station is a row of toilets. Yeah.. a row of temporary toilets. I think the toilets are there just for the World Youth Day 2008.

Then, we move on and pass buy Queen Victoria Building. It's a shopping centre. Premiere shopping centre. Not that tall right? Well, in actual fact, there's 4 floors of shops below the ground level.

Aren't the police here cute? Short pants with pistols and riding a bicycle. I guess the thief here are not rich enough to buy a car. Hahaha... I did saw a police patrol car using Mitsubishi Lancer Evo. 10. How about our country's police car? Waja only? No wonder jewellery shops keep getting robbed.
At the Darling Harbour, there's nothing to see unless you are interested to go to the Museum, Aquarius and Wildlife Park.

The Maritime Museum. You can visit the submarine, naval ship, and the Captain's Cook ship.
The bridge to the Darling Harbour.

The view of Sydney from Darling Harbour.

All the walking is maing us tired and we need meat to keep our body warm. Look at how big our Subway sandwich is. I ate a regular size burger for dinner and it took me half an hour to finish the burger. Imagine how big their burger is..
Then, we went to the Hyde Park to see the cathedral and found something pretty interesting there. Lol...

WHat can you see from this picture? ;P

Next up, the war memorial and museum. Unfortunately, it's closed. Hopefully, I can come back again on Saturday to visit the Museum.

The Sydney's Museum

Last but not least, I managed to buy a souvenir for Mr. Gan (my roommate). Hahaha.. Hope he loves it..

Day 3 in Sydney

We were planning to go to Hunter's Valley this morning but unfortunately, both of us couldn't wake up on time. We were supposed to reach the bus terminal before 8.30am. THus, my gf decided to bring me to Taronga Zoo. What's so special about this zoo compared to our country's Zoo Negara? Well, I have no idea cuz I have never been there. We took a package which includes admission fees, ferry and bus rides to the zoo which cost AS$44/person. Expensive... Damn expensive... I guess the AS$500 that I brought here will be just nice till the day I went back to KL.

On the way to the zoo, I managed to take some good pictures of the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge.

We took around 3 hours to see all the animals in the zoo. Sadly, we missed the sea lion show....

You know what animal this is right?

Ok, I don't remember what they are called. They are small and cute !!!

The snow lion.

I think it's an ostrich. Very big right??

It's not a kangaroo. It's called Wallaby.

Obviously, it's a penguin.

Did you know how big is the sea lion?

Compare the size of the 'bangau' with the ducks.

This the video of two snow lions fighting. Sorry for the low quality. Hehe.. Not a professional..

After the zoo, we went to take some photos at the Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge, The ROcks, and went to visit the Observatory which we found out that it is only open till 5pm.

At the Rocks. The first settlement by the British when they migrate to Australia.

The Observatory.

After that, both of us walked to Chinatown to have our dinner. On the way towards there, we saw two Malaysian owned company in Sydney which are MAS and Ernst&Young. Both companies owned at least 10 stories high office building.

Day 2: Bikinis and..... bikinis...

MY gf and I went to Manly beach with a bus. which took approximately 40 minutes . And, I must say that the public transport here is good and punctual. However, the price of the bus ticket is a whopping AS$4.00 or RM12.60 just for a 40 minutes ride.

We reach there around 12 something and started walking along the beach while trying to take some good pictures... Hehe...

Apart from that, I found a cave which leads me to another rocky cliffs.

And, after that we walked back to the beach and 'tapao' McD. Unfortunately, Sydney McD's don't sell any PORK BURGERS!!!! Sad case... Then, we walked again to another side of the beach. We discovered another beach, a national park, ruins, and a former artilllery school.

I took this picture from the edge of a cliff with no guard rails. Geng or not?

This a gun pit used for war long long time ago. It's quite spooky when we entered the gun pit.

The former school of artillery but I can't find any artilleries there. Then, both of us walk back again to the beach and we managed to get a hold of the sunset scenery at the top of the hill.

It's the Sydney city at the back of us. Lucky!!!
