Firdt day in class

The honeymoon is over and my class starts today.. Unfortunately, my lecturer decided not to come to class today. Well, it's the culture here. Normally, lecturers don't give lectures or even come to class in the first week of class. Anyhow, this is my last semester and I must cherish my final moments of my joyous, free, and poor life before entering the real, mean, and RICH life. Hahahaha...

As everyone hits out at Mukriz, but I think I will give him support..

Although that it is stated in the constitution that Chinese and Indian should have the privileges to maintain their vernacular school, however, it seems that that school system has caused polarization of students where Chinese went to Chinese schools, Indian went to Indian schools, and the Malay went to the National school. Eventually, these students end up in the national school starting from Form 1. Being comfortable conversing and talking with their old friends from their old schools, I would say less than 10% of these students would end up eating together on the same table during recess time. Believe it or not, this continue up until the tertiary level where the Chinese only sits with the Chinese up in front of the class and the Malays sit with their own back behind in the class. That is what happening in my class. Although, I would consider them friends but I don't have best friends in other ethics since I came to University because I decided to join the Chinese group and interact less with my Malay friends. It is sickening to see this happening and if nothing is being done, things might get out of hand in the next 50 years. Did you know that I've met a Malay friend who said that he had never talk to a Chinese before because all this while he has been in the religious school and during his tertiary level, he took up a religious subject!!! That's sick!!

Namewee published a new video condemning the government for not providing Chinese University. Did you think it's appropriate? So, it will end up the Chinese will only mix with the Chinese from 7 years old until 24 and when they enter the working environment, it's either they get a cultural shock or have to find a company which hires a certain ethnic only. If you know that you don't have a future when you enroll in private Chinese secondary school, why did you want to do that? Why won't you opt for national school? Is it because your 'ang poh' and 'Malay' kanasai? Or is it because if you choose not to enter national school because you have to go to 'Peralihan class'??

p.s. I'm sorry if I have offended my classmates. Hehe.. ;P

Getting Negative Vibes on Thunderbird (Hotmail)

It seems there's a problem with the hotmail add-ons from webmail. Thus, after googling for awhile, it seems webmail had come up with a new extension to counter this problem.

1. First of all, is to download the latest extension here.
2. Open your thunderbird and uninstall the previous version.
3. Then, install the latest version.
4. After that, restart your thunderbird
5. Use Firefox or IE to log into your hotmail account.
6. When you login, you will encounter a page before entering your email. Find a box to tick to SKIP that page.
7. If you still encounter the same problem, try restarting your computer. If the problem still persist, please tell me. I'll help you to find the solution.

Hehe... I like to solve problems. :)

And yet again...

And yet again... I found myself have been so busy with assignments and studies for the last three weeks. I'm going to have my final exam this Saturday and I'll finish 6 papers in a span or 1 week ++. The fastest exam that I've ever had during my University years!!!

I have so much to share but I still can't find the time to write. Maybe, I'll start writing again after my exam. That would be around 18th or 19th of Nov.

Anyhow, Good Luck to everyone!!!

Life has been so hectic that I...

That I almost forgot that I had a test on Monday. Luckily, my friend remind me about it on Saturday night. Haha... Ah... Life of a final year student.. Guess what? I didnt get to study it until Monday morning. Geng or not?? I'm quite impressed myself.. I managed to read-up 20% of it before my test. Guess what? I managed to answer more than half of it. The other half of it is by the help of my friend who's sitting beside me.. Kah kah kah kah... I think I can score around 80% from this exam.. Phew....

Varsities improved their ranking!!!!

Universiti Malaya (UM) :230 (246)
Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) :309 (250)

Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) : 320 (364)
Universiti Teknologi Malaysia: 356(415)
Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM): 313(307)

*Numbers in bracket is the ranking for the respective university in 2007.

Looks like UM is still the best university in Malaysia. However, how long will it stay? With USM being chosen as an APEX university, I predict USM will be the top university in 5 years if all the good students changed their 1st choice university from UM to USM. Ahh... At least I'll graduate as the scholar from the top university in this country.. Hahahahaha....

Did you that you can't seperate interwoven phonebooks?

Yes.. It's TRUE... BELIEVE IT OR NOT!!!!

The friction from interlacing 2 phone books together can't be tear-up apart by 10 people!!! Yeah.. It's true and proven by the mythbuster team in the 12th episode of their show. After they failed to tear both phone books apart, they decided to use 2 cars to pull the book apart... And.... they still fail!! Can you imagine that!!! With no glue and whatsoever holding them together... Just friction baby...

So, what did it takes to pull them apart? Did you know how much force is needed to pull them apart?

Watch it yourself... Hahaha...... It's a very.. very... huge amount of force needed...

THES result coming out on the 9th of Oct..

Will University of Malaya be able to maintain it's ranking? I hope we don't drop way below 300. I'm quite sad when people from their own uni hate the uni that they are in right now. If you hate it so much, why don't you quit and join other uni?

We should be proud of what we are.

We should be proud as an undergraduates from UM.

And, I'm proud and never regretted my decision to enter UM rather than NUS. Yeah, people might think that I'm dumb for not going to NUS as it's ranked top 50 in the world right now. Hahaha..

Did man really walk on the moon?

Well, there's a lot on conspiracy out there and my lecturer even show me a video about it in class.

Among the things that claimed by others that NASA faked the moon landing are:

Myth 1:

Look at the picture closely. It seems that the direction of the shadow of the ship and the rocks are inconsistent. It seems that there are 2 light source which is impossible, right?

Myth 2:

Look at the astronaut. Is he in the shadow of the space shuttle? But why we can see him clearly instead of being all dark since he's in the shadow of the space shuttle.

Myth 3:

Footprints. What's wrong with this footprint? Well, actually, there are people who said that because there's no water in the moon, it is impossible to imprint such a clear footprint on the moon.

Myth 4:

Next, the american flag. In video, it actually shows that the flag is actually flapping. How is that possible? There's no wind and air on the moon!!!

Myth 5:

Finally, the video of the astronaut moving around at the moon seems to be faked. It is claimed that this are done in the studio where the frame rate of the video is reduced to make the motion of the astronaut moving around looks real.

Is this really real? Well, I thought, it might be true. We didn't land on the moon. NASA faked it. But, until today, when I watched another video from Mythbuster which shows the otherwise. They explain and demonstrate the 5 myths above are fake!!! Haha... Now, I believe that man actually did land on the moon. You can download it or get it from me. It's the 6th season episode number 10.

Here's the preview from youtube.

Are we Malaysian or what RACE we are?

I wanted to consider myself as a Malaysian but we(the so called 'pendatang') were not even considered as a Malaysian. We are polarized by our skin. We are not given the equal opportunity compared to the Bumis.

Why?
Because the Malays thinks that they are the "Tuan" of this land. Thus, they will have more rights to this very land. My Prof did said this once in the class, when you are born as a Malay, Chinese, and Indian, did you asked for it? It is the God will. It is God who gave life to everyone and I believe that God created this land, this earth.

Does this land belong to the Bumis or to the God?
If it's to the Bumis, I have nothing to say. But, if it's to the God, why can't all of us treated equal? Why can't all of us treated as a Malaysian? Why must there been a race above all in this country?

I believe that if everyone is treated equal, the Chinese and the Indian will strive and work hard for the country. I believe that if we had the mentality as a Malaysian and not as what race we are, all those intellectual citizens of Malaysia will come back to strive their nation to be among the world biggest economy.

Just my 2 cents... Angry that my beloved nation had come to this stage... So angry..

Until now, there's only 24k signatures. Please help spread it around!! WE NEED MORE SIGNATURES!!

Oh.. What's wrong with this country?

TIAO.. TIAO.. TIAO.. that's the words being uttered by my roommate. First, it's Raja Petra detained under ISA. Why? Cause the police can't nab him using the Malaysian Law. Thus, those chicken used ISA.

Next, it's the Sin Chew reporter who's being nabbed. Why? For writing seditios remarks? Lol... Then, what about that bastard, Ahmad? He's the one who uttered that words out!!!

Then, the latest. Theresa Kok is being nabbed under ISA. wtf?!!! Why?? Why?? I also don't know why....

Is this a repeat of Ops Lalang?

Stay calm. We don't want those pathetic BNs to take this opportunity to declare state of emergency. We have to stay united and let PR topple the government ASAP!!! I believe in you!!

Ahh... It's been a long time since my last post

Hallo... It's been quite some time since my last post. I've been quite occupied with my thesis and assignments. I pitied my gf as I don't spend enough time with her. How I wish I could do something about it... It seems that I'm putting my friends above my gf as I'm having 1-3 badminton sessions weekly compare to spending just 1 night or 1 whole day with my gf. Sigh... Gf, if you are reading this, I would like to say that I'm sorry and I hope that I can spend more time with you during the Raya break.

Now, something to recommend you guys to watch.

Karei Naru Ichizoku
Change

It's a 10 episodes japanese drama starred by my idol Takuya Kimura. Haha... But my gf doesnt like him. With my tight schedule, I managed to find some time to watch drama series. Haha... But, all these came with great consequences. I had an average sleep of 5 hours per day for the last few weeks. Ahh... I think I'm going to die early. Yeah, it's true.. For those out there, here's a quote from a medical website :

The main causes of liver damage are:

  1. Sleeping too late and waking up too late are the main cause.
  2. Not urinating in the morning.
  3. Too much eating.
  4. Skipping breakfast.
  5. Consuming too much medication.
  6. Consuming too much preservatives, additives, food coloring, and artificial sweetener.
  7. Consuming unhealthy cooking oil. As much as possible reduce cooking oil use when frying, which includes even the best cooking oils like olive oil. Do not consume fried foods when you are tired, except if the body is very fit.
  8. Consuming overly done foods also add to the burden of liver. Veggies should be eaten raw or cooked 3-5 parts. Fried veggies should be finished in one sitting, do not store.

We should prevent this without necessarily spending more. We just have to adopt a good daily lifestyle and eating habits.

Maintaining good eating habits and time condition are very important for our bodies to absorb and get rid of unnecessary chemicals according to "schedule."

Because:

Evening at 9 - 11pm : is the time for eliminating unnecessary toxic chemicals (de-toxification) from the antibody system (lymph nodes). This time duration should be spent by relaxing or listening to music. If during this time one is still in an unrelaxed state such as socializing, drinking, eating out, this will have a negative impact on health.

Evening at 11pm - 1am : is the de-toxification process in the liver, and ideally should be done in a deep sleep state.

Early morning 1 - 3am : de-toxification process in the gall, also ideally done in a deep sleep state.

Early morning 3 - 5am : de-toxification in the lungs. Therefore there will sometimes be a severe cough for cough sufferers during this time. Since the de-toxification process had reached the respiratory tract, there is no need to take cough medicine so as not to interfere with toxin removal process.

Morning 5 - 7am : de-toxification in the colon, you should empty your bowel.

Morning 7 - 9am : absorption of nutrients in the small intestine, you should be having breakfast at this time. Breakfast should be earlier, before 6:30am, for those who are sick. Breakfast before 7:30am is very beneficial to those wanting to stay fit. Those who always skip breakfast, they should change their habits, and it is still better to eat breakfast late until 9 -10am rather than no meal at all.

Sleeping so late and waking up too late will disrupt the process of removing unnecessary chemicals.

Aside from that, midnight to 4am is the time when the bone marrow produces blood . Therefore, have a good sleep and don't sleep late.

Is there hope for our country now?

Anwar won with a landslide victory a majority more than his wife (15,671 majority). Will Anwar be able to change our country? I hope so. I watched one of his speech in youtube and there's a statement from him that I like a lot from him.

It sounds something like this :

"I want to change the country such that
when you see a chinese kid, you will treat he/she like your own kid;
when you see a malay kid, you will treat he/she like your own kid;
when you see a indian kid, you will treat he/she like your own kid; "

It is my wish and dream to see that come true in 50 years as it is impossible to do that now as the young generations had their mind washed with the words such as,

"YOU ARE A CHINESE"
"YOU ARE A MALAY"
"YOU ARE AN INDIAN"

I wish that someday we will not see other ethics based on their ethics, religion, or the color oof their skin but see them as a true MALAYSIAN.

However, he must be able to come out save from the allegation that he sodomized Saiful. Or else ke won't be able to be a parliamentarian for long.

A spate of news reports quoting the Speaker as saying that the oath-taking ceremony to swear in the winner of the Permatang Pauh by-election today would most likely be held in mid-October and that he did not see any urgency to “fix a quick date” has raised eye-brows all round and thrown up a flurry of questions.

WHy is that so??

Well, let's say that our 'honorable'' PM is going to present the budget 2009 this Friday and he doesn't want to see Anwar sitting in from of him as the head of opposition.

Lol... chicken!!

The Square Root of Three

Have you watched Harold and Kumar : Escape from Guantanamo Bay? It's quite a hilarious movie. In one of the scene, Kumar sited this poem to GET A GIRL!!! Hahaha.... Maybe those single out there can use this poem to get one yourself.

I fear that I will always be
A lonely number like root three

The three is all that’s good and right,
Why must my three keep out of sight
Beneath the vicious square root sign,
I wish instead I were a nine

For nine could thwart this evil trick,
with just some quick arithmetic

I know I’ll never see the sun, as 1.7321
Such is my reality, a sad irrationality

When hark! What is this I see,
Another square root of a three

Has quietly come waltzing by,
Together now we multiply
To form a number we prefer,
Rejoicing as an integer

We break free from our mortal bonds
With the wave of magic wands

Our square root signs become unglued
Your love for me has been renewed

Uncivilized, Pathetic, Impatience UM's UNdergrads..

I woke up 6am in the morning just to help my gf to take her graduation's robe. Reach the place at around 7.15am. Did you know what did I found out? There are more than 700 people (guessing only) waiting in-line already. The counter only opens at 9am but there are already soooooo many people waiting. The most shocking news that I heard is that there are even people who came to queue up since last night!!!!! Super 'XIAO'... Just like someone decided to sell 1000 sets of plasma tv worth RM30k for RM10.

The reason? All the girls want to get the 'S' size. UM should consider buying more "S" size robes.

Ahh.. Here comes the worst part. UM staff decided to open the counter a bit earlier and when the line starts moving, some smarty pants decided to run and cut the line. Consequently, everyone starts cutting line and forming 10 lines (or more) instead of ONE!!!! So, I have to endeavored the pushing and squeezing for at least 2 hours before I got my number. Want to know what number did I get?

1185. I think there's another thousand people behind me too... Craziness..

I felt sorry for those who came to line up at 4/5/6/7am as other people who came later than them were actually WAY AHEAD IN FRONT OF THEM. PATHETIC!!! Shame on you!!!

P.s. I FOUND PANTIES ON THE ROAD WHILE IN THE MIDST OF SQUEEZING AND PUSHING... hmm... something must had happen the night before...

Another Weekend..

Ahh.... Another weekend has just pass by.. And, I had done nothing useful for the entire weekend. Used 50% or more of my time to sleep and eat.. Another 49% of my time to sit in front of my precious laptop. LAst but not least, 1% of my time to read 2 pages of CFD book. Hahaha.... I'm so in big trouble.

Sigh....

For those friends out there who are going to graduate this year, CONGRATS!!! I talked to Lai Jeng about organizing a reunion before you guys starts working. Eh.. Maybe you guys are already working. Hahaha... Anyhow, take care!!!

Ahh.. Have to go to sleep de.. Have to wake up as early 5.30am tomorrow just to get a small size robe for my gf graduation. Why can't UM buy more smaller size robes?? Why??

Signing off.. Chau!!

Fetching e-mails from Hotmail, Gmail and PerdanaMail to your Thunderbird

Sorry for my late post. Basically, the settings for hotmail is the same with the setting for Yahoo!Mail. You just have to install another extension for your hotmail from here.

When you choose to create a new account, there's an option for GMail users. Select that and follow the instructions given. You should have no problems with that.

For PerdanaMail, the setting given by UMCTES is incorrect. However, you can only fetch email from PerdanaMail. I'm still figuring out the setting for sending out emails by using PerdanaMail.

1. Next, go to Tools>>Account Setting
2. Select Add Account
3. Choose the option "Web Mail"

4. Fill in your name and your e-mail address (wilander@perdana.um.edu.my) as shown below.

5. Next, fill-up the username section with your perdanamail address. (e.g. wilander@perdana.um.edy.my)

6. You have successfully created your account. Next, scroll down and look for Outgoing Server (SMTP).

7. Select Add and fill-in the blank with the same configuration as shown below.

8. Select your Perdana Mail Account and change your Outgoing Server to "PerdanaMail - smtp1.um.edu.my"

9. Next, select server settings and fill "ummail.um.edu.my" for the server name.

Receiving All emails by using ThunderBird!!

What's a Thunderbird?
It's an e-mail client developed my Mozilla. Something just like Microsoft Outlook. But, what's the difference? Well, you can't setup to use Yahoo!Mail and Hotmail in Microsoft Outlook. You can do that in Thunderbird.

Here's what you should do.

1. Download Thunderbird here.
2. Install it.

Yahoo!Mail Configuration
  1. Download WebMail 1.3.2 here.
  2. Download Yahoo 1.3.4 from the same page. By the way, if you are using Firefox, please right click the download link and "Save it as". If not, it will install as an extension for Firefox.
  3. Open Thunderbird. Go to Tools>>Add-On
  4. Click Install and browse for both of the files that you had just downloaded. Please bear in mind that you MUST install WebMail first before anything else.
  5. Next, go to Tools>>Account Setting
  6. Select Add Account and click Next

7. Fill in your name and your e-mail address as shown below.

8. Next, fill-up the username section with your yahoo mail address. (e.g. wilander2001@yahoo.com)

9. You have successfully created your account. Next, scroll down and look for Outgoing Server (SMTP).

10. Select Add and fill-in the blank with the same configuration as shown below.

11. Select your Yahoo Mail and change your Outgoing Server to yahoo mail-serverhost as described below.

I'll continue on Hotmail, Gmail and even PerdanaMail configuration on my next post. Why? I'm too lazy to write some more. It's 3.35pm and the weather is very suitable for a nice and good nap.... Hahhaha..

Day 7: I missed my flight !!!

Yeah.. I missed my flight back to KL. I was given the wrong direction by the railway officers !!! Argghhh.... I reached the check-in counter 20 minutes before the flight but all the gates have been closed and I cant board the plane. How? Did I pay RM3k for the next flight?

Of course not!!! I went to the MAS office and they gave me another ticket back for FREE.. Hahahaha... I love Malaysia Airlines!!!

The happy moments didn't last for long. Just an hour before my flight, I was so reluctant to leave my gf there. I felt so sad... It's hard to say goodbye to her... but, I had to....

I love you gf.. I'll wait for you till you come back again to my arms !!!! Stop looking at handsome ang moh... Muaks.. Love you.

Day 6: Blue Mountain

Blue Mountain is about 2 hours journey by train from the Central station. What's so special about Blue Mountain? Is the mountain blue in colour? Lol....

Behold.. The beauty of our mother earth..

There are 30 stops available in Blue Mountain which had a breathtaking scenic view in different angles. However, since we only have half a day to spend in Blue Mountain, we took the cableway, railway and skyway package instead of hiking across the valley.

The view from the cableway.

Up next.. The most steepest railway!!! Yeah... Both of us ride on the steepest railway in the world. Imagine.. 52 degree of inclination... Luckily, it's not a roller coaster. I'll died of heart attack. Imagine riding a rail train without being able to see the end !!!!

Day 5: Whales and Dolphins

Yup.. We went to whale watching today. You can get a 4 hours of whale watching for AU$68. We saw 3 hatchback whales AND dolphins!!! Haha.. The dolphins were swimming together with our boat. So lucky... However, there's a price to pay. I almost vomit back there cuz the ship was going up and down. And until now (6 hours after getting off the boat), I'm still feeling dizzy. And, it was the coldest day in my life. The temperature is ok but the wind is blowing so hard and there's sea water splashing on my jeans, I can feel the cold straight to my bone!!!

The boat that I'm taking....

Dolphins.. How fortunate am I...

After watching the whales, we went to Chinatown and my gf manage to get something for my sis. Cute ler?? Oii sis.... you should thank her !!!a

Day 4: Darling Harbour and Sydney's City Life

My gf and I reached the Town Hall station at 1.30pm. Another half day gone... Anyhow, walking half a day is more than enough. Can you imagine walking none stop for 5-6 hours? That's what I've been doing for the past few days. Imagine how many hours did I have to walk if we depart to the town in the morning?

The first thing that I saw when I came out of the station is a row of toilets. Yeah.. a row of temporary toilets. I think the toilets are there just for the World Youth Day 2008.

Then, we move on and pass buy Queen Victoria Building. It's a shopping centre. Premiere shopping centre. Not that tall right? Well, in actual fact, there's 4 floors of shops below the ground level.

Aren't the police here cute? Short pants with pistols and riding a bicycle. I guess the thief here are not rich enough to buy a car. Hahaha... I did saw a police patrol car using Mitsubishi Lancer Evo. 10. How about our country's police car? Waja only? No wonder jewellery shops keep getting robbed.
At the Darling Harbour, there's nothing to see unless you are interested to go to the Museum, Aquarius and Wildlife Park.

The Maritime Museum. You can visit the submarine, naval ship, and the Captain's Cook ship.
The bridge to the Darling Harbour.

The view of Sydney from Darling Harbour.

All the walking is maing us tired and we need meat to keep our body warm. Look at how big our Subway sandwich is. I ate a regular size burger for dinner and it took me half an hour to finish the burger. Imagine how big their burger is..
Then, we went to the Hyde Park to see the cathedral and found something pretty interesting there. Lol...

WHat can you see from this picture? ;P

Next up, the war memorial and museum. Unfortunately, it's closed. Hopefully, I can come back again on Saturday to visit the Museum.

The Sydney's Museum

Last but not least, I managed to buy a souvenir for Mr. Gan (my roommate). Hahaha.. Hope he loves it..
